@Coworking Europe was full of thoughtful, well-crafted sessions, but one in particular has stayed with me.

@Pauline Roussel spoke about the work behind @Coworkies new book, built from conversations with 100 community teams who quietly shape the experience of a workspace far more than most people ever see.

I found it reassuring to hear that the community teams describe systems not as something imposed on them, but as something that supports their work. Our industry tends to romanticise spontaneity and fear structure, yet the most human spaces are often the most systemised ones.

When CRM tags, automations, and playbooks are designed around empathy rather than pure efficiency, they create a kind of consistency that still feels personal.

That really resonated, because it’s something I’ve believed for a long time. A system doesn’t just take payments or send invoices. It shapes how a member is welcomed, how issues are handled, how consistent the experience feels, how connections are curated and managed, and how much time a team can be community-facing in their space.

Seeing that reflected so clearly in Pauline’s work – and in the voices of 100 community teams – felt like a powerful reminder that what happens behind the scenes often defines what people feel in the space.
