I really enjoyed the @technologywithin Women in Flex event on Wednesday evening, hosted at the beautiful @Uncommon Holborn location.

The evening began with an interactive workshop from Briar Keen on ‘Communicating with Confidence.’ Packed with useful insights on showing up confidently and authentically in our professional lives, the audience participation made the workshop fun and engaging.

Briar’s session was followed by a thought-provoking panel on Women in Flex who don’t fit the mould. The panellists openly discussed their experiences of being held back, interrupted, and overruled by male leaders, but also spoke about the importance of showing up with authenticity, and of being seen and recognised for your expertise, leadership, and role.

Their stories were completely relatable. While attitudes towards women in the workplace have moved on since I started my career, we still have a long way to go. There’s not a finite number of seats at the table for women, and it’s not a competition. But men must also get involved to make a real change.

Throughout the evening, the need to lift women up was clear. Creating more space for others only makes us stronger.

Women in Flex was a really thoughtful event, with plenty to reflect on.
